TODAY’S THOUGHTS DEVOTIONAL
MARCH: OUR MONTH OF “BLOSSOMING IN MISSION”
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 18, 2026
TOPIC: RUTH’S LOYALTY AND FAITH
SUB-TOPIC: HOW FAITHFULNESS IN THE MIDST OF LOSS LEADS TO REDEMPTION AND INCLUSION IN GOD’S GREATER MISSION

Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, good morning! This is Samson Amajene, a servant of Christ from Grace Gospel Church, coming to you with a heart full of joy and hope from the inspiring pages of the Book of Ruth. Today, as we celebrate March: Our Month of “Blossoming in Mission,” let Ruth’s story ignite a fresh fire in your spirit! What began as heartbreak and famine blossomed into one of the most beautiful redemption stories in the Bible—and it can do the same for you!

Imagine this: A family leaves everything familiar because of famine. Elimelech, Naomi, and their two sons journey from Bethlehem Judah (“House of Bread”) to the foreign land of Moab, hoping for greener pastures and a brighter future. Yet, tragedy strikes. Elimelech dies. The sons marry Moabite women—Orpah and Ruth—but soon both sons also pass away. Naomi is left empty-handed, bitter in soul, and alone in a strange land.

When she hears that God has once again provided bread in Bethlehem, Naomi decides to return home. With a heavy heart, she urges her daughters-in-law to stay in Moab, find new husbands, and rebuild their lives. Orpah, after tearful goodbyes, chooses to return to her people and her old ways. But Ruth—precious, courageous Ruth—makes a decision that would echo through eternity.

With bold faith and unwavering love, she declares: “Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” (Ruth 1:16-17)
Oh, what a powerful declaration! Ruth, a foreigner from a people outside God’s covenant, chose loyalty over comfort, faith over fear, and commitment over convenience. She refused to abandon Naomi in her pain. Instead, she stepped into the unknown with God, and that single act of faithfulness opened the door to unimaginable blessing.

Five Inspiring Points to Encourage Your Heart Today

1. EVEN WHEN “GREENER PASTURES” FAIL, GOD’S PASTURES NEVER DO
Elimelech’s family sought relief in Moab, but it brought only loss and sorrow. Friend, if you’ve chased opportunities, relationships, or places that promised much but delivered pain—take heart! God is calling you back to the place of His promise. Your “Bethlehem” moment is coming. Return to Him, and watch your life blossom!

2. RADICAL LOYALTY CHANGES EVERYTHING.
In a world where people easily walk away from family, church, or commitments at the first sign of difficulty, Ruth stands as a shining example. She stayed when others left. Her loyalty brought comfort to Naomi’s broken heart and positioned her for divine favor. Today, choose to be a Ruth in your family—stay faithful through the hard seasons. In your church and community, be the one who doesn’t abandon the hurting. Your steadfast love will inspire others and open heaven’s windows over your life!

3. BOLD FAITH ATTRACTS GOD’S REDEMPTION

Ruth didn’t just follow Naomi—she embraced the God of Israel with her whole heart. In our modern world of shifting loyalties and cultural pressures, let Ruth challenge you: Choose Jesus above all else! Declare with confidence that His people are your people and His ways are your ways. When you do, redemption follows. Boaz, the kinsman-redeemer, entered Ruth’s life, and she found love, security, and a glorious legacy.

4. YOUR PAIN IS BEING WOVEN INTO GOD’S BEAUTIFUL MISSION.
What looked like the end for Naomi and Ruth became the beginning of something eternal. Ruth, the Moabite widow, became the great-grandmother of King David and is honored in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 1:5)! Beloved, your current losses, disappointments, or “famines” are not wasted. God is writing your story into His grand mission. Keep trusting—your faithfulness today will blossom into blessings for generations!

5. BLOSSOMING IN MISSION BEGINS WITH SELFLESS LOVE

Ruth’s mission seemed small—just loving and serving her mother-in-law—but God multiplied it beyond imagination. This March, as we focus on blossoming in mission, remember: Every act of kindness, every faithful commitment, every choice to stay and serve is the seed for a mighty harvest. You are not too small, too broken, or too late to be used greatly by God!

LIFE APPLICATION POINTS – LET’S LIVE THIS OUT!
• In Your Family: Don’t give up on the “Naomi” in your life—the one who feels bitter or burdened. Stay close, serve with joy, and watch God bring restoration. True family loyalty is rare today—be the one who makes it beautiful again!
• In the Church: In an age where many treat faith like a consumer choice, commit deeply. Walk with your brothers and sisters through every season. Your “Ruth-like” faithfulness will strengthen the whole body of Christ and cause the church to blossom.
• In Your Community: Be the steady light in a world of quick exits and broken relationships. Show up for the lonely, the immigrant, the widow. Your loyalty reflects the heart of Jesus and can draw many to Him.
