Dear beloved family in Christ, Grace and peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ! As we continue in our special month of “Blossoming in Mission”, today we turn our hearts to a powerful story of faith, obedience, and divine breakthrough—the Battle of Jericho in Joshua 6:1-27. Just as spring brings forth new blossoms from seemingly barren, fruitless, and unproductive ground, God calls us to blossom in our mission by trusting His unconventional ways, obeying His voice, and watching barriers fall in our families, churches, and communities.

Joshua’s unwavering faith in God’s plan led to the miraculous fall of Jericho’s walls, demonstrating the power of obedience and trust in God. This isn’t ancient history—it’s a living encouragement for us today, inspiring us to live out our mission with boldness, edifying one another in love, comforting the weary, and positively impacting those around us. Let’s unpack this story together through five key points, see practical life applications for how we treat each other in today’s world, and repeat some faith-building truths to seal them in our spirits.

1: The Impregnable Challenge – Jericho Shut Tight Because of the Israelites.
Joshua 6:1 records that Jericho was completely shut up—no one went out, and no one came in—because of the children of Israel. This fortified city, locked down in fear, seemed an impossible obstacle. Yet God used this “shut” season to display His supremacy. In our world today, walls of division often shut people off: silent treatments in families, unresolved hurts in churches, suspicion in communities. But take heart—closed doors are setups for God’s glory. In this month of blossoming in mission, let this comfort you: what appears impenetrable is no match for the God who opens ways!

2: God’s Vision of Victory – Instructing Joshua to See the Defeat.
God commanded Joshua, “See! I have given Jericho into your hand, with its king and the mighty men of valor” (Joshua 6:2). Before any action, God gave a vision of complete victory. How inspiring! In a time when people often speak defeat—criticizing family members, gossiping in church circles, or judging in community spaces—God calls us to speak life. As we blossom in mission, let’s edify one another by declaring God’s promises: “I see victory in your life!” This shifts atmospheres and builds up the body of Christ.

3: The Strategy of Patience – Compassing the City for Six Days.
The divine plan was to march around the city once each day for six days—in silence and obedience (Joshua 6:3). No shortcuts, just faithful steps. This comforts us in seasons of waiting. In our fast-paced world, impatience fuels division: quick arguments at home, hasty judgments in church, withdrawal from community needs. But patient faithfulness—daily kindness, consistent prayer, steady encouragement—prepares the soil for blossoming. Your quiet obedience today is part of God’s mission as it unfolds!

4: The Power of Unity and Worship – Seven Priests with Seven Trumpets
Seven priests bore seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark (Joshua 6:4), leading with worship rather than warfare. Unity in praise was essential. How encouraging for us! When families worship together, churches unite in prayer instead of division, and communities collaborate in service, God’s power moves. In our multi-ethnic family at Grace Gospel Church, we experience this: diverse voices lifting one praise. Let’s blossom in mission by leading with worship—sharing encouragement, praying fervently, serving joyfully—and watch walls crumble!

5: The Climax of Faith – The Seventh Day Shout and the Walls Fall Flat.
On the seventh day, after seven circuits, seven trumpet blasts, and the people’s unified shout, the walls fell flat (Joshua 6:15-20)! Obedience met faith in collective action, bringing instant victory. This climactic truth inspires us: God honors unified trust. In relationships today, a “shout” of positivity—affirming words in families, reconciliation in churches, grace extended in communities—flattens barriers. No wall stands against obedient faith!

Life Application Points: Blossoming in Mission Today
Let’s apply Jericho’s lessons to how we treat one another:
In Families: March patiently with daily love—listen actively, forgive quickly, speak vision over each other. Turn “shut” homes into blooming gardens of grace.

In Churches: Unite like the priests—worship together, affirm gifts, serve side-by-side. Shout encouragement to dismantle division and blossom in fellowship.

In Communities: Compass needs with consistent kindness—bridge gaps, volunteer, show Christ’s love. Collective positivity fosters inclusive, thriving spaces where missions flourish.

Personal Mission: Obey God’s prompts in interactions—a kind message, a reconciling step. Trust His ways to bring breakthroughs and help you blossom fully.

Repetition Points:
Driving Home the Message
Declare these truths aloud or in your heart to build faith—repeat them daily this month!
• Obedience unlocks miracles—trust God’s plan! (Repeat 3x: In family, church, community!)
• Walls fall when we unite and shout praise! (Repeat 3x: Vision, patience, faith in action!)
• See the victory already—God has given it! (Repeat 3x: No barrier too great!)
• March faithfully, blow trumpets of love! (Repeat 3x: Positive impact starts with me!)
• From Jericho to today: Obey, trust, triumph—and blossom in mission! (Repeat 3x: Inspire, edify, comfort!)

Beloved, as we blossom in mission this March, remember: the same God who felled Jericho’s walls is empowering you today. Step out in obedience, trust His plan, and watch relationships heal, barriers fall, and His kingdom advance. You are part of something miraculous!
