Today's Thoughts — Obedience Series

Text: Titus 2:14 (KJV)
Topic: Zeal for Good Works
"Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works." — Titus 2:14 (KJV)
Bishop Samson Amajene reflected on the theme of zeal for good works. He noted that zeal serves as the driving force behind a vision, allowing individuals to effectively carry out mission work — even in the face of opposition from the enemy. Zeal embodies the passionate enthusiasm necessary to pursue a vision while avoiding distractions. It reflects a strong determination to complete projects, irrespective of obstacles posed by people or circumstances.
However, Bishop Amajene cautioned that zeal could act as a blind guide — if not correctly managed, it may lead one astray. While zeal can take many forms, he emphasized the importance of having zeal specifically for good works. He acknowledged that some individuals might display zeal for harmful actions, but as lights in a dark world, believers are called to demonstrate zeal for what is good.
He remarked that life without zeal for good becomes uninspired and lacks motivation for fulfilling one's assignments. When someone possesses true zeal, it shines through unmistakably — creating an environment where there is never a dull moment.
The Bishop concluded that nothing thrives without zeal, which is why it is essential for every believer to cultivate a fervent passion for the things of God.
"Lord, I repent for any spiritual coolness within me. Let Your fire consume all weakness, docility, laziness, complacency, and levity in my life, in Jesus' name. Amen."
