The Real Enemy

By Bishop Samson Amajene

Today's Thoughts

Saturday, June 15, 2024  ·  By Bishop Samson Amajene

Text: Galatians 5:16–17 (KJV)

Topic: The Real Enemy

"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." — Galatians 5:16–17 (KJV)

Walking by the Spirit is the key to overcoming the desires of the flesh. The conflict between the two is real, and the importance of resisting the pull of the flesh cannot be overstated. Spiritual warfare is genuinely prevalent in the daily walk with God — the battle between the flesh and the Spirit of Christ is constant in our lives.

Contrary to common perceptions, the main adversary to our faith, love, obedience, and commitment to Christ is not external entities such as the devil or demons — but rather the fleshly desires that wage war against our souls.

Using the analogy of two boxers in the ring, believers are urged to be vigilant and prayerful against desires that hinder spiritual growth and trap them in bondage. By overcoming these evil desires, victory against the flesh is attainable.

This message serves as a reminder for believers to remain steadfast in their faith and guard against the internal struggles that threaten their spiritual well-being. The enemy within is often more dangerous than the enemy without — and it is the one we must confront first.
