Topic: The Power of Knowledge

"My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children." — Hosea 4:6 (NIV)

The practice of begging is not uncommon in our world today, raising a fundamental question: Should Christians resort to begging? The resounding answer is a firm no. Begging is often a result of feeling helpless in a situation, despite the abundant opportunities available to us through Christ for success. By resorting to begging, individuals not only diminish themselves in the eyes of others but also inadvertently suggest that God has forsaken them. As believers, it is crucial to place our trust in the Lord and refrain from begging — utilizing all the resources provided through Christ to transform our circumstances.

Here are some key reasons why Christians may find themselves in the position of begging:

1. Lack of Sole Dependence on God

One major reason Christians may resort to begging is their failure to rely solely on God. Instead of turning to God in times of need, individuals often seek assistance from others who may not provide the help they truly need. Hebrews 4:16 reminds us to approach God boldly in our time of need.

2. Ignorance of God's Provision

As stated in Psalm 84:11, Christians must recognize that God has already prepared everything for them to enjoy. God's plan for the righteous is eternal and all-encompassing (Jeremiah 29:11), ensuring that every need is met according to His Word. Understanding this truth should motivate us to work diligently to fulfill His perfect will in our lives.

The distinction between begging and asking is significant, as emphasized by Jesus in Matthew 7:7 (KJV): "Ask, and it shall be given to you." While asking aligns with seeking from God in faith, begging can cast a negative light on our faith and reliance on Him. Let us ask boldly, trust completely, and work faithfully — for our God is able to supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19).
