Today's Thoughts — Obedience Series
Saturday, August 3, 2024 · By Bishop Samson Amajene
Text: 2 Peter 1:5–7 (NIV)
Topic: The God of Process
"For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love." — 2 Peter 1:5–7 (NIV)
Bishop Samson Amajene emphasized the importance of following due process in every endeavor. While many operate without adhering to any structured approach, the Creator exemplifies a systematic method in all actions. Success is rarely achieved without a sequential process that aligns with our vision — one that involves thoughtful planning, decisive actions, and an unwavering commitment to fulfilling our assignments.
He noted that each family, ministry, organization, or company has established procedures in place, facilitating both leisure and productivity. Just as physical actions require processes, so too do spiritual endeavors. Bishop Amajene outlined several key processes that we are encouraged to follow:
1. Faith
Faith serves as the bedrock of all that we do within the Kingdom of God — without faith, it is impossible to please Him. Those who neglect to assist those in need due to a lack of good action are spiritually blind, as Jesus modeled a life devoted to doing good wherever He went.
2. Knowledge
The Bishop stressed the significance of acquiring the right knowledge of God's Word, describing it as essential for avoiding destruction. He referenced the scripture, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6), and encouraged believers to study diligently to be approved by God. Knowledge equips us to navigate life's challenges with confidence and integrity.
3. Self-Control
Bishop Amajene warned that a failure to practice self-control could jeopardize the entire process. Emotional or sinful actions may lead us astray from our intended path.
4. Perseverance
He urged perseverance — encouraging determination and a resolute drive to pursue our life and ministry goals, no matter the obstacles.
5. Godliness and Holiness
The Bishop identified holiness, godliness, and righteousness as crucial safeguards against the enemy's schemes, who seeks to undermine our progress at every turn.
6. Brotherly Love
Finally, Bishop Amajene addressed the necessity of brotherly love, stating that we should let love prevail over tribalism, ethnicity, or nationality — adopting the agape love exemplified by Christ during His earthly ministry.
"Lord, please help us wait patiently for the process You have set in motion to unfold, in Jesus' name. Amen."
