Text: John 15:5–7 (NLT)
Topic: Stay Connected to God
"5 Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. 6 Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned. 7 But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted!" — John 15:5–7 (NLT)
The evidence of a fruit-bearing believer is staying connected to God the Father, who is the true Vine. While some of us prefer being connected with friends, colleagues, and significant others, the best place to be is in the presence of God, drinking from the fountain of life. No wonder so many of us are not bearing fruit — simply because we are not connected to the True Vine.
Beloved, being in Christ is more than just attending a church service on Sunday or going to Bible study and prayer meetings. It means remaining in Christ's teachings, abiding in His love, having faith in Him, forsaking worldliness, thinking like Christ in word and deed, and sharing Christ's feelings.
The reason many believers will be cast away on the last day is being disconnected from Christ and disobeying His teachings and lifestyle. Brethren, there is nothing more frightening than to be thrown away by God after all our labor on earth in the Kingdom. The reason many of our fastings and prayers go unanswered is our failure to abide in Christ.
