How to Make a Positive Impact on People Where You Are

Today's Thoughts — Special Edition

Text: Galatians 6:2 (KJV)

Topic: How to Make a Positive Impact on People Where You Are

"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." — Galatians 6:2 (KJV)

Impact is a strong word that carries both positive and negative meaning. It simply means one object hitting, striking, or crashing into another with minimal or maximum effect that may cause a temporary or lasting result. But to our dismay, most ministers of God use the word indiscriminately without defining the type of impact they mean. As children of God, we are expected to make a positive impact on the brethren with edifying and exhorting words, and by exhibiting the glory of God in the community where we live.

We are also expected to make a negative impact on the kingdom of darkness by living holy, peaceful, and loving lives — and by destroying the works of Satan wherever we find them.

With this understanding, let me say that all of us can make a positive impact by lifting one another up with edifying songs, celebrating one another, finding ways of making people happy, comforting one another, and supporting one another in the Kingdom of God — like the beloved song:

"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine.

This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine —

Let it shine, let it shine, let it shine."

Life is positively impactful when we use it to help others who may be going through something they are struggling to overcome. Let us pray that God will make us a helping hand to lift the falling to a place of comfort.
