Topic: How Do We Pray

"That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."

"For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same?"

"And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." — Matthew 5:45–47 (KJV)

The Scriptures above emphasize the importance of believers extending their love and prayers beyond their immediate circle of loved ones, friends, and family. We are called to radiate the light of Christ to all members of our community and the world at large.

Dear brethren, let us take a moment to reflect on the topic of prayer. How do we pray? The content of our prayer list serves as a revelation and reflection of the depth of our growth and our relationship with the Lord. The Scriptures indicate that what truly makes us His children is our ability to pray for those with whom we have no personal connection — rather than limiting our prayers to just our family and friends.

The Lord desires us to pray in ways that promote the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. Yet we often become preoccupied with our own trivial needs, neglecting to pray for others. In fact, praying for others can lead to answers to our own prayers more swiftly.

One reason many of our prayers go unanswered is rooted in selfishness — we tend to focus solely on our own needs. However, when God discovers a believer willing to set aside personal desires and wholeheartedly embrace the Kingdom principles of love and community, He will generously bestow His grace upon that individual.

The love of Christ within our hearts is a light that should shine across all borders. We are called to pray for people everywhere, guided by the Holy Spirit — not just for our immediate family and community, but for all humanity, as the Scriptures instruct.

God expects us to be mission-minded, spreading His love and engaging in activities that expand His Kingdom. This commitment will lead us to perfection in His sight, both now and in the world to come.

"Lord, expand my prayer life beyond my own circle. Give me a heart that intercedes for all people — the lost, the suffering, and those I have never met — so that Your Kingdom may come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus' name. Amen."
