Topic: Hastening My Time and Season in Service

"Thou shalt arise, and have mercy upon Zion: for the time to favour her, yea, the set time, is come. For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof. So the heathen shall fear the name of the Lord, and all the kings of the earth thy glory. When the Lord shall build up Zion, he shall appear in his glory." — Psalm 102:13–16 (KJV)

What most people fail to understand is that favor is a by-product of taking a deep interest and devotion to God's Kingdom, His people, and service. The question we should be asking is: why should the Lord utilize His grace, favor, and resources for someone who is careless about His people? That simply does not happen — it would be a wasted effort.

My time and season are here because God is a rewarder of those who truly and diligently seek Him. Please do not look at the way other people are serving and doing things for God as your standard. You should serve the Lord because of your love, devotion, and zeal toward Him.

We hasten our time and season when we take great pleasure in seeking the Lord and delight in His people. Some people will never get involved in the Lord's work, even when they clearly see the need to intervene in some Kingdom-advancing endeavor. "For thy servants take pleasure in her stones, and favour the dust thereof." This speaks of looking at a community ruined to the ground — heaps of stones and dust — and being moved to do something in service, out of love for the Lord.

What is your life's end goal? Do you live only for yourself, your friends, and your family? Do you take pleasure in what is dear to the Lord, or is your life simply a daily routine of family, work, and recreational activities? When your time and season come, you will not only think about yourself and your family, but also the welfare of others.

We should be deeply desirous of Kingdom advancement, delighted in gathering the stones — souls — putting them together and spreading the love of Jesus to the world. We, the ministers of the Gospel, and Christians in general, should take pleasure in the great number of converts who will be saved through our endeavors in preaching Jesus Christ. Newly born-again believers are as living stones; we need to build them together as part of a spiritual house (see 1 Peter 2:5) — especially when those stones shall be laid with fine colors of diversity, and the headstone shall be brought in with acclamations, crying, "Grace, grace unto it!"
