Topic: From Death to Life: Made Alive Together in Christ
Text: Ephesians 2:1–22
Greetings, beloved family in Christ. I am Bishop Samson Amajene, a servant of Christ from Grace Gospel Church. Today, the Holy Spirit is speaking to us through Apostle Paul in Ephesians 2:1–22. When we gave our lives to Christ, a miracle took place: we were quickened, revived, transformed, and resuscitated back to life! Our heavy sins were forgiven, trespasses blotted out like writing erased from a board. Satan's power over us was completely broken because we now have the power to say "No" to him through the victory of Jesus on the cross. We are empowered to walk according to the course of God's Kingdom and not the world. The power of the lust of the flesh is broken; we no longer fulfil the desires of the flesh and mind. Once children of wrath, we are now children of the living God through Christ's redemptive work.
Here are five condensed, deeply expressed expository points to inspire, encourage, edify, comfort, and positively impact someone worldwide as we build families in faith.
Five Expository Points
1. From Spiritual Death to New Life: Quickened by Divine Mercy
We were dead in trespasses and sins, walking according to the course of this world (Ephesians 2:1–3), but God, rich in mercy, made us alive together with Christ (v.4–5).
Supporting Scriptures:
Colossians 2:13 — "And you, being dead in your trespasses… He has made alive together with Him."
John 5:24 — "He who hears My word and believes… has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life."
Life Application: In today's world, where families are torn by bitterness, churches divided by conflict, and communities marked by suspicion and retaliation, choose to speak life. Revive your home with words of hope and forgiveness.
Made alive in Christ — walk in newness of life!
Jesus willingly laid down His life on Calvary for our complete redemption, bringing freedom from death's grip so we can live victoriously.
2. Saved by Grace Through Faith: Not by Works
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works" (Ephesians 2:8–9).
Supporting Scriptures:
Titus 3:5 — "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us."
Romans 5:8 — "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Life Application: Amid performance pressure and comparison that fuel division in families, churches, and societies, rest in grace. Offer unearned kindness and patience to your spouse, children, and neighbours.
Saved by grace — live freely and forgive freely!
Christ's willingness to die for us while we were unworthy shows unmatched love, empowering us to treat others with the same grace in our broken world.
3. Raised and Seated with Christ: Heavenly Identity
God "raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:6).
Supporting Scriptures:
Colossians 3:1–3 — "If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above."
Romans 6:4 — "Just as Christ was raised from the dead… we also should walk in newness of life."
Life Application: When economic stress, moral confusion, and relational breakdowns dominate family and community life, anchor yourself in your heavenly position. Lead your household with authority and eternal perspective.
Seated with Christ — reign in life!
Jesus endured the cross and rose again so we could share in His victory, breaking every chain and enabling us to build strong, faith-filled families.
4. One New Man: Unity That Breaks Every Wall
Christ "has broken down the middle wall of separation… that He might create in Himself one new man from the two" (Ephesians 2:14–15).
Supporting Scriptures:
Galatians 3:28 — "There is neither Jew nor Greek… for you are all one in Christ Jesus."
Colossians 3:11 — "Where there is neither Greek nor Jew… but Christ is all and in all."
Life Application: In a divided world filled with tribalism, racism, and unforgiveness that destroys families, churches, and nations, actively pursue reconciliation. Welcome differences and build bridges in your home and fellowship.
One in Christ — live in unity!
His blood willingly shed on the cross reconciled us to God and to one another. Let this sacrificial love heal every relational divide today.
5. Built as God's Holy Temple: A Dwelling Place
"You also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit" (Ephesians 2:19–22).
Supporting Scriptures:
1 Peter 2:5 — "You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house."
1 Corinthians 3:16 — "Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?"
Life Application: Counter isolation and selfishness in modern families and communities by building together through prayer, counselling, teaching, and discipleship. Strengthen your household and church as God's dwelling place.
God's temple — host His presence daily!
Jesus died to make us living stones in His eternal house, calling us to make disciples of all nations and develop Kingdom leaders.
Beloved, through the Holy Spirit speaking via Apostle Paul, this divine visitation has transformed us. Rise up, walk in resurrection power, build families in faith, and impact the world for Christ.
May the Lord empower you to live this new life fully today.
