July: Our Month of Community Outreach – Power in the Park
Sunday, July 12, 2026 · By Bishop Samson Amajene, Grace Gospel Church
Main Topic: Divine Guidance in Life and Missions
Texts: Psalm 25:9 & Acts 16:9–15
Dear beloved in Christ, I am Bishop Samson Amajene, a servant of Christ from Grace Gospel Church.
Opening Thought
In our contemporary times of confusion, uncertainty, and spiritual blindness — where families make hasty decisions that hurt one another, churches divide over opinions, and communities wander without direction — we all need God's guiding hand, just as the blind need help crossing dangerous bridges.
Years ago in Lagos, I helped a blind man across a busy bridge. Another time, a compassionate woman protected a blind man from exploitation at CVS. Every human being walks in some form of spiritual blindness daily. That is why we desperately need God's guidance in life and missions.
Here are five condensed, powerful expository points from Psalm 25:9 and Acts 16:9–15.
Five Expository Points
1. God Guides the Meek and Humble
The Lord guides the humble (anawim — bowed down, teachable) in what is right and teaches them His way (Psalm 25:9).
Supporting Scriptures:
- James 4:6 — God gives grace to the humble.
- Proverbs 11:2 — With humility comes wisdom.
Life Application: In families torn by pride and communities fractured by arrogance, humble yourself before God. Repeat daily: "Lord, guide me as I stay humble." Jesus died for the proud and humble alike — follow His meek example in your relationships.
2. God Directs Through Vision and Obedience
Paul received a vision of a man from Macedonia pleading, "Come over and help us," and they immediately set out (Acts 16:9–10).
Supporting Scriptures:
- Proverbs 3:5–6 — Trust in the Lord… He will make your paths straight.
- Isaiah 30:21 — Your ears will hear a voice saying, "This is the way."
Life Application: When people around us cry silently for help, yet many ignore the call, respond promptly like Paul. Repeat daily: "I will obey God's guidance quickly." Christ gave His life for the lost — let His love propel you into action.
3. God Opens Hearts and Doors
The Lord opened Lydia's heart to respond to Paul's message, leading to her whole household's salvation (Acts 16:14–15).
Supporting Scriptures:
- Revelation 3:7–8 — What He opens, no one can shut.
- John 10:3–4 — The sheep listen to His voice.
Life Application: In a closed and divided world, trust God to open hearts. Repeat daily: "Lord, open the right doors for Your glory." Jesus died to reach every soul — be ready to step through every open door.
4. God Protects Us From Wrong Paths
God's guidance kept Paul from unfruitful directions and led him to the right mission field.
Supporting Scriptures:
- Psalm 32:8 — I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.
- Romans 8:14 — Those led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
Life Application: Amid harmful choices that wound families and communities, rely on God's protective leading. Repeat daily: "God protects and directs my every step." Jesus' sacrifice secures our safe passage.
5. God Fulfils His Plans Through Guidance
Divine direction aligns us with God's good purposes for our lives and global mission.
Supporting Scriptures:
- Jeremiah 29:11 — Plans to prosper you and give you hope.
- John 16:13 — The Spirit of truth will guide you into all truth.
Life Application: When people wander aimlessly, seek God's guidance daily. Repeat daily: "God's plan for my life and mission is good." Christ died so we could fulfil His calling.
Beloved, God promises and faithfully provides guidance. Humble yourself, obey quickly, and watch Him lead you powerfully this outreach season!
