Topic: Demonstrating the Agape Love Brings Promotion
Text: 1 Corinthians 13:1–13; Matthew 5:43–48
Welcome to another exciting time in God's presence, in Jesus' name.
Today incidentally happens to be my Birthday, and I am talking about promotion by demonstrating the Agape love. Everybody wants to succeed in life, but not all people know and understand that promotion does not just come like that. Beloved, there is a quality that attracts divine promotion easily without stress. If you want promotion, you must practise the Agape love. Agape is the God-kind of love demonstrated to humanity. And once it is demonstrated, God is bound to promote you surprisingly.
The Four Greek Words for Love
February 14th is not only the day to celebrate love — love is supposed to be celebrated every day. Love has different meanings in the Greek, namely:
- Eros:Sexual love
- Storge:Parental love
- Philia:Friendship love
- Agape:God's love — the greatest love; God's unconditional love planted in our hearts by grace
The Agape Love Defined
We shall concentrate on the Agape love today. Romans 5:5 — Agape is the divine love of God shed abroad in our hearts, which makes us love without attaching conditions. It is the unconditional love the Creator deposited in our hearts to help us love each other — whether we are Ijaws, Hausas, Yorubas, Igbos, Indians, Americans, Jews, Britons, Arabians, or any other people. He loves everybody the same way. His love is shed abroad in our hearts by His Holy Spirit the day we were born again.
The love of God is something that never fails. As long as you are sharing it, nothing can stop you from being promoted, according to 1 Corinthians 13:8.
Love Attracts Divine Promotion
According to Hebrews 1:8–9, when you love God and His people, promotion is bound to happen. Prayer is great, but there is something greater than prayer — and that is the Agape love. Beloved, it is not only through prayer that you can succeed; love is a far faster plane.
Matthew 5:43–48 — We are talking about promotion by demonstrating the Agape love. Beloved, put away sentiments and begin to demonstrate the Agape love to everybody, and you will see divine lifting in your life. When the rain falls, it falls on the roofs of everybody — good or bad. When the sun rises, it shines on the roofs of everybody. We must be like God by demonstrating the Agape love to everybody.
Love Is Greater Than Sacrifice
It is very painful when people take love for granted. Though I love you, please do not take love for granted. Demonstrating the love of God is the best form of prayer that anybody can practise. Read Romans 12:14–21 and see if you will not be promoted. When you are exhibiting love, God shall always be there for you. God says: do not retaliate with wrong words towards those who offend you.
God likes a place where there is prayer, but He lives in a place where there is love — because God is love. If you can demonstrate the Agape love, your little prayers will do wonders, with answers rushing in like waters. Some people pray a lot but keep malice with someone, because there is little love in the heart. 1 Corinthians 13:1 — God is looking for people who can love with all their hearts. Sacrifice is nothing without love. You can make a sacrifice of food, but if it is not with love, it means nothing.
The Character of Agape Love
When you love people, you are patient with them. Love is not envious of somebody's success. When you love, you are not boastful. Love is reliable. Love does not seek its own first, but the general good of all — unlike politics, where individuals seek their own first, hence corruption.
Beloved, what reward have you when you have houses everywhere but you cannot buy bread for your destitute sister? You see an accident on the road and you can do nothing — is that love? You have faith, prophecy, and speak in tongues, but no love. Beloved, love is better than all.
Especially as we have just celebrated Valentine's Day — may God help us to demonstrate the Agape love, in Jesus' mighty name.
