"Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations — that's what I had in mind for you." — Jeremiah 1:5 (AMP)

Bishop Samson Amajene reflected on the important connection between our creation and our divine purpose. He noted that the term "destiny" is frequently used in conversations among God's people today, prompting the question of what it truly means. Destiny, he explained, is the Creator's intentional arrangement and design for His children — established long before their birth. Some scholars believe that destiny results from the cumulative decisions one makes throughout their lifetime.

While acknowledging that God has a unique plan for each individual, Bishop Amajene warned that this plan may remain unfulfilled if one fails to act in accordance with God's will and purposes. He stated that simply being told one has a great destiny does not guarantee its realization — just as being informed of a bleak destiny does not determine one's outcome. Achieving a great destiny requires active engagement and effort.

A Tale of Two Young Men

Bishop Amajene shared a poignant story about two young men who approached a pastor for prayer. After praying, the pastor delivered prophetic words to each — proclaiming to the first young man that he would become wealthy and have a great destiny, but telling the second that he would be poor and unsuccessful.

The young man who received the prophecy of wealth went home celebrating without taking any action — ultimately dying as a pauper. In stark contrast, the young man labeled as poor took it upon himself to defy the prophecy, working hard and demonstrating determination — which led to his success and the transformation of his destiny.

Bishop Amajene highlighted that life presents choices that can lead to either success or failure, and God respects the decisions we make regarding our paths in life. Our choices shape our destiny — and with God's guidance, even the most unlikely destiny can be transformed.
