"But Abraham gave everything he possessed to Isaac. While he was still living, he gave gifts to the sons he had by his concubines, but then sent them away to the country of the east, putting a good distance between them and his son Isaac." — Genesis 25:5–6 (MSG)

Despite the fierce famine that plagued the land and the considerable opposition from the Philistines — who sought to thwart his success by stopping up the wells he had dug — Isaac remained a living testimony of abundance amidst scarcity and want. This remarkable success was rooted in the covenant and the blessing pronounced upon him by his father Abraham while he was still alive.

Beloved, what you truly need from your parents is their parental blessing. When a blessing is pronounced upon you, it establishes a powerful foundation in your life that is difficult to alter, as emphasized in Ephesians 6:1–3. In the Kingdom of God, financial blessings begin with the blessing of the Lord, as highlighted in Proverbs 10:22. True wealth, free from sorrow, does not arise merely from human connections — it ultimately flows from the blessing of the Lord.

We must understand that any wealth not derived from the Lord's blessing typically carries sorrow. The term "blessing" encompasses empowerment, anointing, endowment, and authorization to prosper, as expressed in Proverbs 10:6. Isaac was therefore endowed and empowered to succeed by God's blessing through his father Abraham's prophetic pronouncement.

This covenantal blessing was the secret to Isaac's success. His achievements were not solely attributable to his human abilities or intelligence — they were predominantly a result of the blessing that operated in his life. As long as he abided by the principles of this covenant in obedience, he was destined to be blessed, regardless of the prevailing economic circumstances.

With this blessing upon him, Isaac carried favor wherever he went. A child who is aware that the prayers of their parents accompany them possesses a significant advantage — enabling them to succeed in any endeavor, especially when coupled with the Lord's blessing. Whatever Isaac undertook in alignment with God's will prospered, because the pronounced blessing was upon him.

The ground itself had to cooperate with his efforts, because it was the seed of a blessed man — one who carried the favor of God. It is not merely the work one does that matters; rather, it is the blessing and anointing on the one doing the work that makes a profound difference.

The critical question we must ask ourselves is: Does your life carry the blessing of the Lord? Many individuals find themselves burdened with problems because they lack the favor, blessing, and anointing of God upon their lives. Isaac was a man blessed with God's favor — a beacon of light in the midst of darkness.
